LegalHackers.LA Demo Day

  • General Assembly, Santa Monica (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

LegalHackers.LA's second demo event will feature legal startups changing how the law is practiced. Each presenter will have 5 minutes to demo how their startup is changing the law, and answer questions from the audience.

The event will be on September 28, 2016 from 6:30-8:30pm at General Assembly's Santa Monica campus

At our first event two years ago, some great legal tech startups gave short demos of their products, and the audience asked follow-up questions about their products and how they got into the legal tech world. A full video of the event can be seen here.

There will be snacks and drinks. Space is limited, so please RSVP here.

Presenters this year include:

AtlaSense is an A.I. platform for modern legal departments who want to take control of their data.  Whether for eDiscovery, gathering contracts, or records management, AtlaSense finds information anywhere and automatically classifies your files based on your needs and preferences.

ArbiClaims is an online dispute resolution platform. We use court enforceable, binding arbitration to resolve disputes under $10,000 remotely via 10-to-30 minute webcam hearings. ClearstoneIP is a patent analysis software platform (SAAS) founded by attorneys and software developers about 1 1/2 years ago.  The ClearstoneIP team recognized that certain types of patent analyses, i.e. infringement-based investigations, are particularly difficult and costly for innovators to carry out.  They designed a unique platform specifically directed to these types of analyses, enabling clients to handle projects in minutes rather than weeks, at lower cost, and with greater accuracy than conventional platforms.

Amendment.io. Nothing is more exacting than a contract.  Your artificially intelligent personal assistant can give you the ruthless accuracy of a machine with the finesse of human interaction.

Everchron is a litigation management platform that helps lawyers better collaborate, exchange, analyze and act on case information and documents, from investigation all the way through trial.   Everchron alleviates the issue of fragmentation of people and systems, by centralizing information from review databases, email, DMS, and network drives.   With Everchron, legal teams gain on-demand access to case-critical information in a secure, online workspace, accessible from anywhere.

Code the Deal Hackathon

Code The Deal LA is the second annual legal hackathon produced by Legal Hackers that challenges participants to produce solutions that improve transactional law across multiple fields and industries.

Code the Deal aims to enhance the delivery of legal services, expand access to legal services and advance the legal industry. Teams of developers, designers, lawyers, data analysts and other professionals will work together to compete for cash prizes for developing software-based solutions to challenges posted by lawyers, general counsel and other industry participants.

Where and When?

Code the Deal LA will be held at the UCLA School of Law (anticipated location) on Saturday and Sunday, October 24 and 25, 2015. The event kicks off with registration and breakfast at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and will run until Sunday evening when participants will pitch their prototype solutions to a panel of judges.

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event, typically lasting several days, in which a large number of people meet to engage in collaborative computer programming. Within one weekend, teams will build tech solutions to problems, pitch their concept to a panel of judges and compete for cash and other prizes.

Sin City, Startup City: How Vegas's Downtown Project is Changing How You Do Business

What drew an eccentric Silicon Valley entrepreneur worth $840 million to Las Vegas, and why is he living in a trailer park with alpacas? The short answer: Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos, has a vision for how businesses should be run, and he sees Las Vegas as the home of this vision. E-STET is partnering with Tony Hsieh's Downtown Project to take a look at how this community of startup businesses is shaping how everyone is approaching customer service.

After a day at ILTA, join us on September 2, 2015 at 6 p.m. at Container Park for a tour of the Downtown Project, followed by drinks and food at the Gold Spike Hotel & Casino, where you can play giant versions of jenga, beer pong, and pool. Transportation from Caesar’s Palace will be leaving at 5:30 p.m. and returning to Caesar’s Palace by 9:30 p.m.

We'll also be welcoming a special guest, former Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission, Bill Curran, who will briefly talk about how Downtown Las Vegas has evolved throughout the years, and what he thinks the future of Las Vegas will look like.
